Formed in 2008, Elmwood has quickly become one of the Southeast's most sought after live bands after dates with O.A.R., Blues Traveler, The Wailers, G. Love, Tea Leaf Green, Pat McGee Band and side-stage performances with the Dave Matthews Band. Their music is hard to put in one category. Elements of rock, pop, funk, soul and jazz permeate the songs creating a different experience around every corner. The band however truly shines with their energetic live performance. Singer and guitar player Rusty Kelly, bass player Justin Smith, Sax player Derek Haight and drummer Donnie Marple all came on board after responding to Rusty's craigslist ad's looking for musicians. Derek came from four years of international touring, playing over 50 countries, and Donnie coming from his 2007 win of the Guitar Center Drum-off (do yourself a favor and check out the mind-blowing video of his winning solo on youtube!) where he was crowned best drummer in the US.

The Hold Steady, lauded for the scope, depth, truth and heart they bring to chronicling the American rock myth, will be here supporting 'Heaven Is Whenever'. Singer Craig Finn says ’Heaven Is Whenever’ is about “embracing suffering and understanding its place in a joyful life. The lyrics speak a lot about struggle and reward.” Piano and keys take a backseat to guitar on the new record, which also gets production help from guitarist Tad Kubler. “I really believe the album exposes new elements of the band that we hinted at on other records but weren’t able to fully realize until this one,” says Kubler. Wintersleep's fourth album, 'New Inheritors' was born on the road. Since the 2007 release of 'Welcome to the Night Sky', Wintersleep has been performing endlessly all over North America, Europe and Asia.

"David Dondero is this generation's Townes Van Zandt, a peripatetic tumbleweed casting across the country's highways and dirt roads searching for truth and love. His reedy tenor shuffles through clever verbal forays, over ragamuffin folk, brightened by Dondero's road-wizened stoicism. His latest, Simple Love, features his characteristic wit and unexpected sonic complexity thanks to a full backing band, which joins him on the road." - Houston Chronicle Feature

"It's easy to like Simple Love... Dondero's detailed descriptions are still the best thing about him. He's able to evoke a complete experiential landscape: suicide bridges, dark, cool churches, muddy rivers." - Pitchfork (7.0)

Lewis Brothers
Three brothers, all with vastly different music backgrounds, end up in the same band: Russell P., Richard, and Jeff Lewis, combined with percussionist Dennis Foreman, form an exciting arrangement of eclectic and electric folk, rock, country, and general hillbillery. Songwriting duties are traded as often as they swap instruments on stage. Jeff, formerly of the bluegrass outfit Big Scioto, brings a keen sense of melody and instrumentation. Richard, frontman of the now-defunct pop band Schooley Station, weaves thick harmonies and solid rhythm. Russell, in his first formal group, contributes traditional banjo with an unorthodox twist. The brothers' captivating energy is fueled by Foreman (formerly of Jakob Freely), who's background in world rhythms is applied to a drum kit nicely. Call it punk-a-billy with traditional instruments. Call it supercharged folk rock. At any rate, call it fun.

The Toasters, are "Ska Pioneers" (Billboard magazine) and boldly go where no ska band has gone before. Having been compared to the Ramones, due to their longevity and adherence to core principles, the Toasters are held to be one of most influential ska bands out there. Their lean, mean ska machine has galvanized audiences and musicians alike with their embrace of the Jamaica-born pop music style that overwhelmed England in the 1960's, migrated to America in the early 1980s, and went global in the 1990s. The hallmark Toasters sound sits at the nexus of Reggae, Jazz, Punk and Soul and is the musical equivalent of a brass knuckle-duster. Formed in New York City by British guitarist/frontman Rob "Bucket" Hingley in 1981, the Toasters exploded onto the Lower East Side scene. Cutting their teeth with a residency at legendary clubs like CBGB and Danceteria, the band has defied gravity and industry skeptics alike by staying true to their original 2-Tone ska roots, whilst logging over 4000 globe-trotting live appearances.

Longtime fans and critics agree, the current "International All-Stars" posse (featuring members of some of the world's greatest ska bands) is one of the most formidable in The Toasters' long and chequered history. Along with the irrepressible Bucket on lead vocals and guitar, The Beat's Andy Pearson is featured on bass. Expect to see Neil Johnson (Planet Smashers) and Tommy Quartulli on saxophone (The Allstonians), Greg Robinson (Mephiskapheles) on trombone and Jesse Hayes (Westbound Train) on drums. Special appearances by Arjen Bijleveld (Rotterdam Ska-Jazz Foundation) and Buford O'Sullivan (Easy Star All-Stars) are also to be expected in 2009. Legendary keyboardist Dave Barry rounds out the posse.

The Makeshifts came along in January of 2009, by friends Anthony Ray Wright and Keith Jones. Both having a common passion for the music, they decided to start a band whose primary focus was an authentic '40s & '50s sound and corresponding look. They had realized that there was a serious lack of young people providing the sort of entertainment, along with the look, attire and professional attitude that the genre deserves. Thus, The Makeshifts were born. Wearing matching suits, with period-correct guitars and amps. The Makeshifts have played from Michigan to Louisiana, at many different events. From Oprys and festivals to bars and clubs. From the rockin' tunes of Chuck Berry and early Elvis Presley, to the country of Hank Williams Sr. and Johnny Cash, alongside a healthy lump of originals.

Quickly becoming one of the region's absolute best roots acts, Josh Eagle and The Harvest City strum up country-driven full-on rockers and mournful, wistful acoustic ballads that recall Jeff Tweedy, Big Star, Neil Young and The Band while showcasing the talents of an amazing songwriter and his wholly unique, powerful voice. Eagle already has a great solo disc under his belt, and the band has just released their collaborative 'Show Your Teeth', so look for a diverse set that covers a lot of ground. CityBeat hurrahs his "...soft, longing, winged Folk. Eagle's gripping voice, touching finger picking and bleeding harmonicas snatch you up like the raw, intimate music of Ray Lamontagne. Soothing and originally raspy, songs hurt and heal, gliding into calmness." You'll be hearing a lot about this songwriter and his band, so take it in while there's still a place to sit.

Guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike, bass player George Rice, and drummer Des Kensel formed High on Fire in 1999, following the collapse of Pike's previous band, doom metal titans Sleep. But while Sleep had built their fame on impossibly slothful tunes and copious weed consumption, High on Fire's first release, The Art of Self Defense, displayed a far more aggressive though still fantasy-themed style of heavy metal. Released to mildly enthusiastic reviews, the album's prospects suffered from label Man's Ruin imminent bankruptcy, and it wasn't until High on Fire landed on grindcore powerhouse Relapse Records for their second album, 2002's devastating Surrounded By Thieves, that their abundant promise was rewarded. Extensive touring and an ever-increasing fan base followed, so that by the time they unleashed their third release, Blessed Black Wings, in early 2005 (introducing new bassist Joe Preston [ex-Thrones and Melvins]), High on Fire had earned their place as one of the most widely respected heavy metal outfits on the planet. Preston would be replaced by Jeff Matz, who would play on their 2007 release, Death is This Communion. In 2010, High on Fire returned with their fifth studio album, Snakes for the Divine, released on Koch. (AllMusic.com)

From the hell they came… 30 years ago in a small town in New Jersey called Lodi. It was there, at the dawn of the punk movement in April 1977, that the Misfits were born. Taking for their name the title of Marilyn Monroe's final movie, they set out to make an impression. They wound up making history and creating a legacy which has withstood the test of time. Today, boasting a massive catalog of music old and new, a new lineup and an influence felt around the world, the Misfits are generating more interest than ever before. Armed with a hard, aggressive melodic arsenal and thought provoking lyrics, JuiceheaD defines the new breed of American punk rock. Their music is infectious, contagious and packs enough punch to satisfy most old school punk rock fans.

Jimmie Vaughan is far more than just one of the greatest and most respected guitarists in the world of popular music. As Guitar Player magazine notes, “He is a virtual deity--a living legend.” After all, Vaughan provides a vital link between contemporary music and its proud heritage, as well as being a longtime avatar of retro cool. Since releasing his first solo album in 1994, he has set the standard for quality modern roots music. Throughout his career, Vaughan has earned the esteem of his legendary guitar-playing heroes and superstar peers along with successive generations of young players. His musical ethos and personal style have had an impact on contemporary culture, from spearheading the current blues revival with The Fabulous Thunderbirds to his longtime, innate fashion sense of slicked-back hair and sharp vintage threads (now seen throughout the pages of contemporary fashion journals) to becoming a premier designer of classic custom cars. But for Jimmie Vaughan, none of it is part of a crusade or a career plan. It's just his natural way of living his life and pursuing the interests that have captivated Vaughan since his youth.

Taking their name from a song by New York No Wave artists DNA, Blonde Redhead began playing and rehearsing in New York, drawing inspiration from the city's squalling underground scene, from movie soundtracks, everywhere they could. They caught the attention of Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley, who swiftly signed them to his Smells Like imprint, producing their self-titled debut album in 1994. Following 1995's self-produced 'La Mia Vita Violenta', the group signed to esteemed Chicago underground imprint Touch And Go, and found a new producer in Guy Picciotto, singer / guitarist for hardcore's deftly-nuanced figureheads Fugazi. Blonde Redhead's 2004 album 'Misery Is A Butterfly' established them once and for all as one of the most distinctive and precious bands of their generation, a confident, thrilling and delicately-nuanced sweep of sound which enraptured the already-converted and won the band a whole new legion of fans. Blonde Redhead, quite simply, own graceful turbulence, at once artful and dramatic. On Pantha Du Prince's new album, the producer and DJ, who lives in Berlin and Paris, claims: music slumbers in all matter; any sound, even silence, is already music. The mission, then, must be to render audible what is unheard and unheard of: black noise, a frequency that is inaudible to man.

Chuck Prophet shapes his restless career with inimitable subtle flair: a vivid parade of razor-edged one-liners camouflaged in a slack-jawed drawl, songs about heartbreak and everyman heroism, drenched in twisted lines of rude Telecaster. At 18, Chuck Prophet left his native Whittier, CA for San Francisco, which he still calls home, and before too long joined Green on Red, a gang of interloping Arizonans with no small impact on L.A.'s Paisley Underground. But now, he has created his career high-water mark. ¡Let Freedom Ring! wanders into the fractured, surreal state of the American Dream and emerges with the most vital document of Prophet's vision, a reflection of life and love for troubled times. When the early stages of a financial melt-down coincided with a rare San Francisco heat wave in the summer of 2008, Prophet wrote a collection of political songs for non-political people. Later, in April 2009, he journeyed to Mexico City, where, in the clutches of a Swine Flu panic and earthquakes, he recorded ¡Let Freedom Ring!, his most incendiary record, every bit as urgent as the title demands. Two-time Grammy-nominated Kim Richey is a storyteller; a weaver of emotions and a tugger of heartstrings. Tender, poetic and aching with life's truths, Kim's songs transport you to her world, where words paint pictures and melodies touch the soul.

Bingham was raised in rural Texas, where years of hardscrabble ranch work and rodeo competitions would later lend a sense of authenticity to his music. Bingham shuttled back and forth between Southwestern border towns and relatives' homes, often sleeping in his truck after rodeo shows. It was during those treks that he began entertaining friends with the guitar, and eventually caught the attention of Nashville heavyweights Lost Highway Records, who signed Bingham and issued his major-label debut, "Mescalito", in October 2007. Later that year, he joined another music veteran -- producer/songwriter T-Bone Burnett -- in contributing music to the film "Crazy Heart", which became one of the year's highest-praised films and won a Golden Globe for "The Weary Kind," one of Bingham's original compositions.

Two legendary acts co-headline!

When members of the Los Straitjackets say their new record, The Further Adventures of the Los Straitjackets, is "all over the place," they certainly mean it. From the raunchy romp of album opener "Cal Speed," the hand clap boogie of "Fortune Cookie," the woozy vibrato of "Catalina" and on through to the flirtatious whimsy of "Noctural Twist" - loosely inspired by the 1930s-era jazz standard "Harlem Nocturne" - the new record is a return to form for the band. After spending the last couple of years making records with Kaiser George (Twist Party) and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos, rockabilly belter Big Sandy, and East L.A. legend Little Willie G. (Rock En Espanol Vol. 1) the band found itself missing doing what it does best - and that's making straight up instrumental rock and roll. Since forming in 1988, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys have emerged as one of the world's most respected practitioners of American roots music, western swing, rockabilly, and traditional country playing it like they invented it. "I think of us as just a rock and roll band. A rock and roll band that's letting the roots show," says bandleader Big Sandy. Whether they're playing the Grand Ole Opry, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, or simply climbing out of a bus after rolling into your town, these guys are bringing us some great old-time rock and roll.

"In addition to his work as a poet and playwright, Philadelphia's Adam Arcuragi crafts raucous Americana, the kind that was once called "alternative country" before that phrase become associated with a gnarly fetishization of backwoods authenticity. But with its from-the-gut wails, religious-themed songs and utter lack of detachment, his new album I Am Become Joy feels like the real deal, despite its somewhat anachronistic sounds. The work is full of lap steel, pedal steel, banjo and even a singing saw. The Newbees from Cincinnati, Ohio began a their songwriting partnership in May 2004. They developed an immediate connection through their love of harmony, upbeat melodies and shared retro influences. Citybeat's Mike Breen wrote, "The band's pop songs are especially impressive recalling The Beatles and early ELO in the best way possible." The addition of a live string quartet has further textured The Newbees sound and live experience.
