IRONFEST VIII (Night 2)
JIMS
JIMS
aka JIMS & his Mandareenians
Since 1996, at the ripe age of 11, JIMS has been performing his unique blend of styles and movements that have held a profound influence through the years. Holding frontman/guitar duties with his early projects Code Red, GDS and Prick B. Mafia, once he reached his 20s he started up his longest project to date, Sweet Ray Laurel.

During the same period he was moonlighting as a drummer in Silver Bridge Disaster then as guitar and vocalist in Good Night Noises. Soon after he picked up the sticks again for Martin Luther & The Kings and then Smoke Signals… respectively.

In addition to two unnamed new secret projects, JIMS continues to play with Sweet Ray Laurel and Smoke Signals… while also performing solo.

Alone on the stage armed with just an acoustic guitar and loop station, his songs reflect a love for all styles of music ranging from punk, world, folk and everything in between. The years of influence and experimentation with various groups has helped mold a unique, concise and focused approach which, is evident in his compositions.

Always opting for the most visceral and vulnerable outlet, his solo output is every bit of raw, in-your-face, personal and delicate as you may expect as a document of such a storied sonic past.

JIMS is currently in the process of producing his debut solo album which, should see a release during Summer of 2015 on the label//collective he helps curate with his older brother, AndRecordings.
Casino Warrior
Casino Warrior
Four dudes made up from different animal parts that rock harder than regular humans.
Hex Bombs
Hex Bombs
THE HEX BOMBS sound is a unique brand of proletariat punk with a classic punk rock-revival attitude. Never tiring of powerful hooks and anthemic sing-along choruses, these raucous gents sing about the reality of life from the perspective of hard working folks. The songs are progressive and honest with the intensity of a maelstrom. Formed in 2006, the band is known for their high energy live shows and crowd participation.
Cadaver Dogs
Cadaver Dogs
Cadaver Dogs are too much. Too provocative, too outrageous, too wicked, too scandalous, just too fucking much.

You know the feeling. It's four in the morning and your head is spinning, you can't tell if you're in a room full of people or all alone. All you know for sure is that there's a line on the table, a rolled up dollar bill in your hand, and a decision to be made. Let the Dogs give you a little advice. Do too much.

We're not talking about a band here, we're talking about a barbaric two-headed rock hellion, as likely to break your teeth out with a bottle of Jägermeister as it is to make your toes tap or your ass shake.

With three studio releases of raucous, radio-ready rock and roll already under their belts, including their phenomenal debut full length, 2012's 'superloose', Cadaver Dogs are going in for the kill with the release of their brand new album 'TOO MUCH'. A mesmerizing myriad of brazen bangers and ballistic twisters that'll blacken your brain while whispering in your ear how much it loves you. Their first record as a duo, you'll swear you're actually listening to at least six musicians, a dominatrix, and a witchdoctor, but it's just two scurrilous mutts hell-bent on a good time.

And let's not forget their manic live show, equal parts blood, sweat, vomit, and flying floor toms. This is where the Dogs really run wild, each show a tumultuous lesson in chaos and excess. Having drug their filthy paws coast to coast sharing stages with Andrew WK, Foxy Shazam, Filter, Semi Precious Weapons, Valient Thorr, and more, the Dogs are prepping for their busiest year yet. The band will be carousing the nation with their batch of exhilarating new songs, looking for the weirdest party they can conjure up. They'll also be making stops at various festivals along the way including busting open the Carolina Rebellion Festival in Charlotte, NC alongside Rob Zombie and Avenged Sevenfold, as well as the inaugural Fashion Meets Music Festival alongside Cold War Kids, Circa Survive, and New Found Glory in their home city of Columbus, OH. But most importantly, they'll be haunting your every thought, every dream, every delusion, every hallucination, like a parasitic devil forged in your favorite nightmare.

Feeling overwhelmed? Cadaver Dogs are just getting started and you're in their sights. They've got your scent, so it's already too late.

Too bad.

TOO MUCH.
The Perfect Children
The Perfect Children
The Perfect Children are the romp and stomp;the fresh wound of broken love;laughing in spite of pain. They are a girl with something to say and a boy to help deliver the message, cathartic but engaging.Their energy is infectious, the notes ring out and the space between is an emotional exhalation-personal but vague. They live at the intersection of Holly Golightly,Dex Romweber,Nina Simone,Al Green and Otis Redding. They play from the gut, heart, and soul and are rough, raw, and real. They will guilt trip you into getting outta your seats, their dirty showcase further punctuated by 2 backing vocalists who aid in lifting the stage off the floor and blowing the doors off the joint. To quote Little Richard, they will curl up under your big toe.

The band's sonic stew of gospel, garage, blues, rock and even punk has created a buzz that's leaving jaws open, rumps shakin' and feet stompin'. With singer/songwriter Kristen Kreft (Pearlene/J. Dorsey Blues Revival) at the helm, the dynamic duo of Beth Harris(The Hiders/Pearlene) and Nicole Potter Borngrebe on backing vox, and the rhythm section inertia of Adam Shelton(RX2/Kallip) on drums and bass player Christopher Owens(Blacklight Barbarian) the vocal velocity of this frenetic force will etch an impression that will last. They are something to behold.
Tommy Grit & The Pricks
Tommy Grit & The Pricks
After a few year hiatus following the demise of True Grit, Tommy Grit is back w/ former fellow DropKickMeJesus alumni Paul & Styxxx to fuck shit up. Add in former Chiva Knievel guitarist Be Rad for some tasty leads. Mixing Redneck roots w/ old school Punk Rock-n-Roll, Tommy Grit & The Pricks are here to kick the door down and blow shit up! Their main goals are to have fun and be as loud as possible while doing so. Get ready people, 2015 the volume goes up to 11!!!
The Skulx
The Skulx
The Skulx is. An affair ten years in the making. A decade of camaraderie, a century of rock & roll influence, and a lifetime of die-hard dedication to the craft. A never ending drive to create, with nothing to prove, nothing to lose.

Written and recorded in a fever of creative energy in the earliest months of 2015, look for The Skulx self-titled debut release later this year.
Punching Moses

Draculas
Draculas
If QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf and Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger met and had a baby, and then Black Sabbath - Never Say Die and Faith No More - Angel Dust met and had a baby, and then those 2 babies met and fucked, that's what our music would be.

Draculas are 5 brothers from other mothers that habitat various sparse locations along the Ohio River Valley. One time, lighting struck this gnarly old tree and we all made instruments out of it. Hallelujah, dudes!
The Z.G.s
The Z.G.s
In early 2014, brothers Jim and Louie Groh, along with cousin Joe Groh, teamed up with recent Cincinnati transplant and veteran of the Houston heavy metal scene, Ryan Zentay, and The Z.G.s were born. With their unique brand of fast paced, high energy punk rock with catchy hooks and melodies, coupled with insightful lyrics ranging from drug addiction, politics, to personal struggles, The Z.G.s are an act that always draws a crowd.

2015 has proven to be a busy year for the band. The Z.G.s have maintained a steady schedule of shows at the best local and regional venues, and are racking up a list of great bands that they have shared the stage with, including Anti-Flag, Masked Intruder, War on Women, The Midnight Ghost Train, The Scandals, Tiny Moving Parts, OC45, The Copyrights, Cayetana and many more. The Z.G.s were nominated as best punk band for the 2015 Citybeat Cincinnati Entertainment Awards.

Wonky Tonk & the High Life
Wonky Tonk & the High Life
The Wonk .
With a closet full of boots, a heart full of wander and a soul full of songs, the charming and multi-talented Kentucky “Wonky Tonk” woman releases her debut album Stuff We Leave Behind in hopes of continuing her Wonky ways with a lighter heart in lieu of finding the Neverland in all of us.

Jasmine Lorraine “Wonky Tonk” Poole grew up in the hard scrabble portion of the American heartland. Kentucky, to be precise. Her world of loss and longing is familiar terrain for lovers of country, bluegrass and folk music but, just as Kentucky can be viewed as a bridge between north and south, Wonk’s music blends elements of Indie/Alternative rock with old school country. It’s hard to separate the wonk from the tonk. Nor should you try.

Wonk’s influences, John Prine, Guy Clark, Modest Mouse and Loretta Lynn among them (especially Loretta), are apparent but her music is not derivative. Loretta, Skeeter Davis, Iris Dement and Jenny Lewis come to mind but none of her comparables quite pin her down. Wonk is her own cowgirl. “Cowgirls get up in the morning, decide what to do and do it”, she was told as a child. Fiercely independent but naturally shy Jasmine uses her alter ego and blue cowgirl boots to deal with the notion of impossibly cruel but equally exhilarating existence.

One byproduct of youthful innocence is a constant disappointing, bewildering surprise:

You used to call me baby
You used to call me darlin’
Now you don’t call me at all

Another is vulnerability and manipulability:

In the greasy ballroom
You whispered in my ear
Darlin’ life is a gamble, romance a drug
The whole world is dancin'
Won’t you give in and love

Her eleven song debut release Stuff We Leave Behind deals with the necessity of moving on at critical points in your life. Stuff that once seemed important must be cast aside, ex-lovers relegated to the shadows. “Heartbreak makes the jukebox play”, she was once told. Her song titles reflect her wandering spirit and a fascination with time and place. “Cleveland." “Denmark." “Tennessee." “Montague Road." A veteran troubadour at such a tender age, Wonk has toured Europe with the same restless drive as her native Northern Kentucky.

Tom Robbins told us that even Cowgirls Get the Blues but all is not remorse and regret. Jangly sunshine pops through the clouds unexpectedly, such as in “Parkland Avenue” (arguably the best track). Though softly. Without the glare.

Wonk’s lyrics are worth a read even without the music. The album tracks her evolution as an artist and a person. The gravel, rutted road to an emerging wisdom.

Tennessee didn’t you hear
Money’s not real and neither is fear

Pay attention to Wonk. Not just because she is talented and beautiful. Pay attention because she has an important purpose. To help you remember. To help you forget. Or to help you remember why you chose to forget.
Lockjaw
Lockjaw
Whats up Cincy/NKY Punx!! We're Lockjaw and we play punk rock in your face!!
Honeyspiders
Honeyspiders
Honeyspiders come on like a knife through the streets cutting open the dark, spilling out it's coloured secrets into the ether. Their sound takes shape as a blend of swaggering rock n' roll, hazy opium den grooves, and wash. In a wave of tape saturation, the secret beat kicks in. Chris Harrison's angular guitar work is a searing chorus of dinosaur howls as the bass lines lumber and drag the caravan onwards. Square wave and psychedelic organs pinwheel and swirl through the air. All the while, Jeremy Harrison is the red tar voice in the density. Ambivalent and eternally cool, even when he's all lost in freakout. A revolving cast of guests and co-conspirators aid them along the way rounding out live performances and recordings, adding a shifting, malleable quality to the Honeyspiders music.
Mad Anthony
Mad Anthony
Mad Anthony has been detonating their brand of loud, Garage/Punk Rock since 2007. “So what does Mad Anthony play exactly? From its volume and breakneck vigor, it’s Punk, pure and simple, but there is so much more at work here. Vocalist/guitarist Ringo Jones is like Iggy Pop channeling the spirit of Mississippi John Hurt in a Dead Boys tribute, screaming until the veins in his neck stand out like bridge cable under his skin. When Jones and guitarist/vocalist Adam Flaig start trading riffs, there’s a galloping rhythm that suggests Dave Alvin in his seminal Blasters days with a live power line down his trousers. And the rhythm section of power bassist Dave Markey and new drummer Marc Sherlock is thunder personified… If you see the name Mad Anthony on a telephone pole, get the information and get there. It will change you.”

Moonbow
Moonbow
Moonbow started out as a writing project when singer Matt Bischoff approached David McElfresh of Hank 3/Lethal. The plan was to get together to write some songs for a possible recording project. Songs were written and then we approached former Afghan Whigs/Hermano drummer Steve Earle and Bassist Ryan McAllister of Valley of the Sun to form Moonbow and "The End of Time" was recorded.

"Lamb is an indie artist to the core; she writes and records with many different projects beyond her solo work... Since Jess Lamb's time on American Idol, she has been busy getting her name and brand out in the public eye. She has played constantly at venues old and new, teamed up with other local musicians for projects and made many TV and radio appearances around Cincinnati... Lamb's Idol performances showed America what many Cincinnati music fans already knew - that Lamb's small frame houses a powerful and emotive voice...coupled with her intense and passionate work on the piano..."~Nick Grever "Citybeat"

"Before the first episode airs on Fox, the Cincinnati singer has already made an impression as a contestant on the show. "American Idol" released a promotional video showing Lamb earning unanimous approval from judges (Harry) Connick, Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban, with the trio sending her to Hollywod for the next round of auditions. The snippet also shows Connick joining Lamb at a piano for an impromptu duet." ~Chris Varias "Cincinnati Enquirer"
