"Too honest to be nice, too blunt to be forgiven..."-Frederick News Post

"The sounds of a hard lived soul trying desperately to outrun his past..."-Associated Press

How many different lives can a man live before his number is up? If the man you're talking about is songwriter Josh Morningstar, the answer would have to be several. Father, husband, troubadour, addict, inmate, fighter, recovered-all words to describe an artist who has stared the devil down and lived to tell about it. A recovering heroin addict coming up on six years clean, Morningstar is the embodiment of the songs he sings-honest and real, he writes the kind of songs that will haunt you long after the record stops spinning. Signed as a songwriter in 2013 with Nashville music publisher Ben Peters Music (Peters is the writer of such country music standards as "Daytime Friends, Night Time Lovers" and "Kiss An Angel Good Morning"), after addiction had sent his life spiraling out of control (he's done at least six stints in different county jails), Morningstar has spent the time since cleaning up his act traveling the country (playing over 300 shows each year), sharing his story and his songs (his live shows are part music, part stand up comedy and part storytelling) and spreading his message that continues to inspire and motivate audiences from coast to coast and beyond. His 2017 album "Whole Lotta Crazy" has received rave reviews, and the first single "Melody" has begun to receive extensive airplay on both SiriusXM's "The Highway" and Outlaw Country channels. He was named garyhayescountry.com's 2015 Artist of the Year, as well as one of "10 Artists to Keep Your Eye On In 2017" by wehatepopcountry.com. His grassroots, word-of-mouth fanbase (who have dubbed themselves "The Crazies"-think of a country music version of the "Deadheads" that followed The Grateful Dead) continues to grow with each live show, and have helped Morningstar garner recognition from critics and audiences alike-said Brian Burke (organizer of the Boondocks Music Festival)-"Josh's fans turned out in droves for our festival, and were absolutely rabid waiting for him to hit the stage; they chanted "Morningstar" over the sets of the artists before him, so loud that we had to move his set time up just so we could regain some sort of semblance of order." One listen to his music and it's easy to understand why they are so crazy (pardon the pun) about him-he speaks to the every man: the single mother struggling to make ends meet; the hardened criminal trying desperately to change his ways; the millenials trying to find their path in the world. Morningstar is able to speak to them because he IS them. He's been there and he lived to tell about it. And when he tells, we'd all be better for listening.-Greg Johnson
